Grandmothers for Grandmothers Mountainview
This group was formed in May 2008 with a threefold purpose.
- To raise funds to help alleviate the plight of grandmothers in Africa as they care for children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic. Fundraising shall be done to support the work of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
- To make every effort to promote the Stephen Lewis Foundation in its efforts to help alleviate the suffering caused by the pandemic.
- To increase our knowledge of the African continent: geography, history and current conditions especially pertaining to HIV/AIDS and the affect it has on the grandmothers and children in their care.
G4G Mountainview is not officially affiliated with the Carstairs Bancroft United Church but is supported with free meeting space, advertising in the church bulletins and church member attendance at our events.
Members are not required to be a grandmother or live in Mountainview County. A yearly fee of $10.00 is paid once a year and allows full voting privileges. Our goal is to hold one fundraising event per year.
